Central Eurasia is an area extending inland of the vast Eurasian continent. The area is now divided into several nations. However, the area was once a dynamic world where various ethnic groups and civilizations come and go due to East-West exchanges. The exchanges have been introduced in Japanese TV programs under the name of Silk Road, Way of grassland or Way of Oasis.
Even today, traces of East-West interaction can be found in the food culture. In the casual food culture of everyday life, you can find various backgrounds based on the characteristics of the area, natural environment, ethnic culture and history. The Food Culture is one of the important tools for understanding the Central Eurasia. We, the Central Eurasian Food Research Group, aim to help understanding the area, by exploring the still unknown Central Eurasian foods and portraying the rich and dynamic culture.
